RE: EMOTIONAL AND GRIEF COUNSELLING

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We send our deepest condolences to family, friends, and community members who have been impacted by the recent loss in our community. Feelings experienced following the loss of someone are unique to everyone. People may experience feelings of overwhelming sadness, anger, frustration, isolation, depression, confusion or guilt.

Handling such feelings can be hard, so it’s really important to reach out to one another during this difficult time. If your child reaches out to you, please consider having a genuine conversation that is caring, accepting, and empathic.

At ʔaq̓amnik School we do have access to emotional and grief counselling. If a student expresses feelings of grief, and requests help, we will connect them with the counsellor.

You can choose to opt out of these services, by signing the Opt Out statement.

It is our hope to be able to provide caring support to those who need it during this time.

For immediate support please text “Home” to 686868 (this number works on internet, texting apps etc. and is available 24/7) Or call toll free at 1-800-784-2433.
